Biobased materials and Biodegradable materials
August 29, 2024
Our company has developed a new material that conforms to the concept of carbon reduction and launched a series of new modified TPE products containing bio based materials.
The difference between biobased materials and biodegradable materials.
Biobased materials: refer to materials prepared from biological resources as raw materials but may not necessarily have degradable properties. These materials can be biologically synthesized polymers or natural substances extracted from plants and animals.
Biodegradable materials: refer to materials that can be naturally decomposed by microorganisms in nature, which are products of natural organic matter or artificial polymerization (such as starch, cellulose, protein, etc.). These materials can be completely or partially decomposed into substances such as water and carbon dioxide in specific environments.
Compared with traditional chemical synthetic materials, the manufacturing process of bio based materials is energy-saving and emission reducing, and the raw materials themselves can absorb a large amount of carbon dioxide through photosynthesis. Therefore, bio based materials can effectively reduce the carbon content in the atmosphere.
Advantages of biodegradable materials:
1. Reduce environmental pollution
2. Reduce the consumption of non-renewable resources
3. Reduce manufacturing costs
4. Improve the recycling rate of products
Disadvantages of biodegradable materials:
1. The degradation rate is somewhat lacking
2. High requirements for degradation environment
Advantages of biobased materials:
1. Reproduce the properties of traditional materials
2. Better processability and mechanical performance
Disadvantages of biobased materials:
1. High production costs
2. Overexploitation and destruction of biological resources
The bio based materials launched by our company are mainly composed of corn, sugarcane, and other fermented and polymerized biological products, which can achieve a maximum effective bio based content of 95%. After our modification, bio based TPE materials have been developed into a series of mature products, such as pet frisbees, shock-absorbing knee pads, car door and window trims, etc.
While realizing the functionality of these products, we have endowed them with the value of environmental protection and carbon reduction, catering to market demand and keeping pace with sustainable development.
Our bio based products can also be applied in the fields of PP packaging that requires a soft touch, daily necessities, and personalized toys that require spray painting and coloring.
